Hi, my name is Sandy Nieves Mansen, founder and creator of Bee Plug, a simple solution designed for irrigation valve boxes.
I’ve been part of the landscape industry for more than 30 years, working alongside my father at Nieves Landscape and growing up around landscaping, irrigation, and the everyday challenges that come with the field.
I’ve always loved creating and coming up with new ideas, but Bee Plug was the idea that finally inspired me to take the next step and become an entrepreneur.
The inspiration came while I was sitting in an irrigation class. A city inspector mentioned how often bees build nests inside valve boxes and how, without a better solution, the bees often have to be removed or exterminated—costing time and money. That was my light-bulb moment.
I thought, “There has to be a simple way to help prevent this problem.”
With the support and help of my husband, we began developing Bee Plug—a product created from real experience in the landscape industry and designed to provide a simple, practical solution.
